As you will be aware, the Covid 19 lockdowns have meant that many sport and play provisions have been closed to the public.
Across the country we are seeing equipment either fall into a poor condition and in some cases, equipment actually failing resulting in serious injury.
Before you consider opening or re-opening any provision for young people you must have the equipment and required surfacing inspected to ensure that the resource is 'fit for purpose'.
We have already seen cases where equipment has completely failed due to lack of use and/or maintenance resulting is very serious injuries.
Latest news: London Council fined in excess of £300,000 following the death of a young person on playground equipment that failed. The council had not had the equipment inspected for a long time.
